Henderson Family Marks Anniversary of Transplant by Touring Cryo-Cell

May 1, 2003

“The transplant was our best hope for Nicolas to be cured”, commented Jonathan and Julie Henderson

Clearwater, FL – May 1, 2003 – Cryo-Cell International, Inc. (NASDAQ:CCEL) announced today that the Company’s first transplant patient, Nicolas Henderson, remains in complete remission on the one-year anniversary of his cord blood stem cell transplant. Nic was transplanted with stem cells harvested from the umbilical cord blood of his brother, Nathaniel. Cryo-Cell processed and banked the cells in advance of and in preparation for the transplant procedure, which occurred on April 30, 2002.

Nicolas was suffering from T-Cell Lymphoma and, at the time of transplant, was in relapse after chemotherapy. That is when the doctors at All Children’s Hospital, St. Petersburg, Florida decided to perform the transplant. “Nathaniel’s blood tested as a perfect match for Nicolas”, commented Jonathan and Julie Henderson, Nic’s parents. “The transplant was our best hope for Nicolas to be cured. Our family wanted to celebrate this milestone with the Cryo-Cell International team that played an important role in this triumph.”

Sibling transplants using cord blood derived stem cells have become an increasingly successful procedure in treating a host of life-threatening hematologic diseases, including leukemias, lymphomas and severe anemias. Usage is expanding beyond children to adults.

The Henderson family chose to spend the one-year anniversary of Nicolas’ transplant touring the Cryo-Cell facility in Clearwater, Florida on April 30. Commenting on their visit, Mercedes Walton, Chairman of the Board and Interim CEO stated, “We are so pleased to know that Nicolas is healthy with a good prognosis. This outcome simply underscores the importance of our U-Cord™ service and the difference it has made in this family’s life.”

The Henderson’s story “Blood Brothers for Life” can be found on the Cryo-Cell web site: http://www.cryo-cell.com/a_hendersons.html.
